All Hands on Deck!!
Our renovation is progressing so quickly, and we need your help!!
If anyone would be willing to help with some finishing touches in the building as the construction wraps up, please let Susan DeBusk know sometime soon. Help would be appreciated with any of the following:
- Selecting and ordering the blinds for the 3 office suite windows.
- Locating a few specific types of furniture for use in the office suite and classrooms.
- Determining how best to use the limited storage space that will be available at CLC and deciding what to bring back or discard from the off-site storage unit.
- Determining a way to save and display part of the stained-glass window that was removed when we built the elevator tower.
If you are interested, please send an email to admin@christwg.org. Thank you!
Renovation Update
- Elevator Installation: The elevator installation is well underway. The crew has made significant progress, assembling key components, installing wiring, and preparing it for future use.
- Drywall and Painting: Tapers and painters have been working hard, finishing drywall and painting in areas such as the narthex, lower-level classrooms, and pastor’s office.
- Carpentry Work: Carpenters have completed the ceilings in several areas, installed trim in the narthex, and continued work on the choir loft panels.
- Flooring Progress: Flooring crews have completed installing luxury vinyl planks (LVP) in the choir loft and started laying flooring in the narthex.
- Electrical Upgrades: Electricians have been busy installing light fixtures, wiring, and completing rough-ins for various areas, including the choir loft and entry.
Fellowship Hall Routine During Renovation
To enable Paric and CLC to most effectively share the Fellowship Hall throughout the construction period, Paric is taking responsibility for the round tables, and we are responsible for the chairs. If they have taken the tables down during the week, they will set them back up before leaving on Friday. And we will make sure the chairs are re-stacked and out of their way after we use them on Sundays.
Here’s how you can help: If you arrive at Adult Forum before church or Fellowship after church and find that additional chairs are needed at the tables, please help set a few more out. And as you leave Fellowship, please help re-stack a few chairs over by the kitchen pass-through. This is definitely one of those tasks that goes much quicker with several people involved. THANK YOU!!
Protecting the Pews from Dust
Just as we have an arrangement with Paric regarding the tables and chairs in the fellowship hall during these construction months, we now have something similar for the sanctuary. After our Sunday services, we retrieve long sheets of heavy plastic from our boiler room and lay them over the top of the pews on each side. The pews then remain covered until Fri afternoon when Paric takes the plastic off in preparation for our weekend activities. We need about 6 volunteers each week right after church to spend a few minutes putting the plastic back on.
